Quora Partner Program - Can you make thousands of dollars from Quora?

Quora allows you to earn money through it's Quora Partner Program by asking questions- sounds simple enough, right? But how much can you hope to make from Quora? Can you make thousands of dollars from Quora Partners program? Let's explore this scepticle passive income stream and find out what it's all about.

Quora Partner Program

What is Quora?

Quora has been around since 2009 and you have probably stumbled upon it before when doing google searches for specific questions. Quora allows anyone to ask questions and allows anyone to provide answers. The upside to this format is that even the most obscure questions can be found. The bad side is that the answers provided can often lack quality, factual content and most of the time appear full of spam. Quora uses an "upvote" system to rank answers based on how many people found them useful and Quora also has a team of moderators who review questions and answer quality.

Quora questions are often featured in Google Searches. When you type in a question in Google, more often than not, a Quora question will be in the top search positions, driving traffic to their website. Quora generates its revenue by having advertisements on their question and answer pages, and with millions of questions in it's database, Quora drives massive amounts of traffic to it's site and collects a nice amount of revenue too. In September 2018, Quora hit over 300 million monthly users. That kind of traffic equals big bucks in terms of advertising and Quora wants more.

What is the Quora Partner Program?

The Quora Partner program is an invite-only system that will pay you real money for asking questions on Quora. That's right- by just asking questions, you can potentially earn thousands of dollars every month. You don't have to provide answers either- users of Quora will happily provide answers to your questions-  you get paid based on the questions you ask. It sounds simple right? So how do you get an invite for this get-rich-quick scheme?

Unfortunately, Quora's partner program is invite-only. That means, you have to be asked by Quora themselves to participate. They usually only ask users of their site who have been active in the past (I.e. you've signed up to Quora, asked a few questions, provided a few answers etc). There's no real statistics on what gets you invited- asking a thousand questions might work, but similarly, asking just 10 could work. Personally, I asked around 20 questions and provided around 10 answers on my account. It wasn't until a year later did I get my invite too, so it might also be a time-related issue.

Why is the Quora Partner program invite-only? Good question. It's probably to help sustain the program. By allowing everyone to sign up to it, Quora's moderators will have a harder job at filtering through all the junk questions and the overall quality of Quora questions will slowly go down (there's an argument that this program is already doing just that). It also might be to limit resources in terms of paying users- with more users asking questions, there is more competition for the people involved in the program, which will likely mean less money earned.

Tips for getting into the Quora partner program

  • Ask questions regularly. It might take you months to receive an invite, so log on to the site once a month or so and show you're an active user.
  • Provide good answers to show you're invested in Quora's site.
  • Make a legitmate profile- add a bio, name, profile picture. Quora wants real people asking questions, not just bots and people looking to spam their site.
  • Be patient. It took me over a year to wait for my invite to arrive, but some have reportedly getting it within months.

Got a Quora Partner invite? How do you make money?

The Quora Partner program works by paying you for the questions you ask. The money you are paid is based on the traffic you generate for Quora, it is not based on the total number of questions you ask. Remember, Quora makes it's money from advertisements placed on question pages- you get a percentage of the revenue from those pages if you're in the partner program. When you've been invited to the Quora Partner program you'll be presented with a link to the partner dashboard. This dashboard is where you'll input your questions, check your earnings and see suggestions on topic categories you should focus on.

What might catch your eye from this screenshot is the weekly top earners. Yep, people are earning over £1000 a week and over £5000 a month- just by asking questions on Quora! It's a pretty easy living if you can reach these levels as you can do this job from the comfort of your home, your bed and even on the go. But how likely is it that you'll be making this amount per week, per month? How much effort and time do you need to expend to reach these levels? As with any of these passive income streams, would that dedication be better spent elsewhere? And how long are you likely to reap the benefit of the questions you've asked?

So, there are two types of questions you'll earn money off.

The first type of question is a short-lived question- it's asked to generate a viral source of traffic and the traffic will drop off after a couple of days. These questions are usually related to what's going on in the real world- current affairs and those sort of topics. These questions can generate traffic directly from Quora itself, as they have their own user system which are fed questions which might interest them. But as mentioned, the traffic from these questions will die off after a couple of days.

The second type of question is one which picks up organic traffic (or as Quora defines it: external traffic). This type of traffic comes from sources like Google, where they present your question page to searchers. Normally, these questions last a lot longer than the first type of question. These type of questions are definitely the best for "passive income" as they will generate revenue over a longer period of time. One thing to note is that Quora currently only pays out revenue on questions for up to a year. So once your question is a year old, you'll no longer get any revenue from it- even if it means that question generates hundreds of dollars a month.

Which means the amount of effort you need to put into Quora will need to be a constant thing. The likelihood of you asking a question which generates revenue for a whole year will be low. These evergreen questions are sort after by Quora Partner Program users and so competition will be tough.

How do I earn thousands of dollars a month via Quora Partners?

The real question. Everyone wants to earn thousands of dollars for easy work. Which means Quora becomes competitive, which means it becomes increasingly harder to earn thousands the longer the program continues to make decent money from it. Unfortunately, Quora only provides the total amount of money earned by Quora users as one lump sum. They don't give detailed statistics on how many questions a month these Quora users are submitting or how many of there questons earn over a certain amount. In my short time participating in the Quora Partner program, only 5 of my questions have earned over £1, with my highest earner being around £3. It's easy money for just asking questions when you're bored, but what if you put in regular "work hours" and treated it as a job?

I wrote around 300-400 questions in about 2-3 hours. It then took me around 2-3 hours to submit these questions to Quora (I had to format them properly, then choose the right topics for each question and also request answers from Quora users). That's around 6 hours of work. In the UK, minimum wage is around £8 an hour. So for 6 hours worth of work on Quora, I'd need to have made £48.00 for it to have been equivalent to working a minimum-wage paid job. You've also got to factor in that Quora traffic comes over time. You can't judge that 6 hours immediately, because one of your questions may start getting google traffic after 3 months and start being worth the effort.

For some, this might be a great way to make money and for others it might just not be enough. If you're geting paid the same as if you were working in a coffee shop or in retail, this might seem like ta great alternative. Being able to work from home for some is a dream, and whilst being a Quora Question expert isn't exactly the most glamorous of sounding jobs, if it pays the bills, it's worth it right?

If you're young and want to earn some cash, this might be a good way to do it too, especially if you just want some money to spend on games or something.

But let's go back to the original question: How do you earn thousands of dollars a month from Quora Partners? Can you get rich off it?

My answer: It's possible. You just have to be extremely lucky and extremely dedicated to the program. That means spending hours upon hours asking all sorts of questions that haven't been asked before, then hoping to get lucky that one of your questions gets so much traffic it blows up. It's very hard to predict what questions will make you the most money and so like most of these internet make-money programs, you won't know until you try it. Most people don't have hours and hours to dedicate to a program that could potentially earn them $0, or could earn them over $1000. It's a risk, but if you've got nothing to lose, I say try it out and see if you can make it work.

Quora Partner Program - Interesting Tips and Tricks

I've been using the Quora Partner Program for a short amount of time and already I'm picking up tips and tricks on how to maximise my earnings. The first is that I can see the type of popular questions which are earning hundreds of dollars. Quora provides it's partners with an Insights page, which lists the top paid questions of the month.

Quora Insights Page

As you can see from this page, questions asked over a year ago have earned over £300.00. You can also see the average question value after a year was around £0.43. You can check out this page to find what types of questions earn the most money. At the time of writing this, Avengers: End Game has just been released in cinemas and is very popular. As a result, the top earning questions on Quora this week have a lot of Avenger themed related questions. This type of information can help you with phrasing your questions too.

How does Quora partner program pay you?

If you're from the US, you'll need a Stripe account. Elsewhere, they pay you via PayPal. Both these sites are relatively reliable and can help you with transfering money from Quora to your bank.

They pay you once you reach over $10.00 on the first of each month.

Quora Partner Program - don't rely on it!

The next bit of advice I'll give to you is- don't rely on the Quora Partner Program for money. If you've been using it for a while and have been able to make decent money from it, just know that it can end at any time. Quora has already begun making changes to it's program which reduce the amount you're paid for direct traffic. Whose to say in the future they slash rates even more? Or worse- just stop the program altogether, which they very well could do. You also need to remember that questions which earn you hundreds of dollars one month, may end up earning you zero the next. Quora also cuts off the amount you earn from a question after one year.

I've seen it plenty of times with popular programs that pay out rediculous amounts of money in the beginning for little effort. Then the masses come, and the company then slashes it's rates because it has enough users to feed them what they need. You just have to look at Amazon's Affiliate system and how they are constantly cutting rates of referring earnings all the time. People who were earning comfortably five figures, not barely make four.

Quora's Partner Program is great for additional income and diversifying your income streams. This is the best way to use Quora because if they ever cut the project, you don't lose everything. Likewise, if another project cuts it's rates, Quora will be there for you with additional income.

And if you do strike gold and start earning lots of money- be sensible with your earnings. Act as if these earnings could disappear at any moment.

Thank you for your review. This is what I have been looking for.
I have only been accepted a week as a quora partner. And during that time, I've asked 120 questions. But my income is only USD. .78.

I ask you:

How to make expensive paid queries on quora partner program???

I absolutely love the Quora Partner Program. Maybe I'm a bit odd though. I do NOT participate for income. Being paid is a great perk...but, money has NEVER been my motivation. Simply being a part of the Quora community IS. THANK YOU!

I question the validity of the earning figures provided by Quora. I think it’s possible that the earning figures are made up & used as a tactic for increasing Quora’s content & ultimately their revenue stream. Although Quora provides info regarding revenue-generating questions in their Insights section, they categorize them as “Sample Questions.” For me, that translates to here’s an example of a question (vs an actual question that was asked) & the amount of traffic & ad impressions you’ll need to generate in order to earn any significant amount of income from the program.

I’ve been a Partner Program member for almost one year & the most I’ve made in a question is $3.63 US. Total earnings $20.83 US. I continue to contribute to Quora because I like to see what questions generate income but don’t think I’ll ever turn to the program for any type of sustained income.

I've been in the Quora partner program for over a year and a half and thus far I have found it to be worthless for making money. I have spent multiple hours asking dozens of questions, especially questions about current and popular subjects, and I rarely make more than $0.10 per week. The compensation structure is so poor on Quora's partner program that it's not even worth what time trying to ask questions. Also, I find it very difficult to think of questions that have not been asked before, and sometimes their computer will merge my questions into someone else's similar or relatedand there's no way to contest that, so it wastes my time and means no compensation for that question. I wouldn't bother with Quora's partner program, you could do almost anything else and make more money.

I wouldn't say being very active has much to do with being invited. I had never answered/asked a question prior to being invited to QPP, and I went on the site maybe a few times a week. I still don't answer questions, and I've asked about 140. Really no one knows how they determine who to invite.

I've been in the program for a few months now and been asking questions not very regularly, and I've made around 13 USD. Sure, it's difficult to actually make money, but if you ask a really good question it does have the potential to blow up.

But what most people don't think is that quora partner program has thousands or simply too many people joining. So, the competition also works here.

I've been in the same calibre of Quora Partner Program but on a different site, it is the same. You can NOT make thousands of USD every month. So, if I have to choose, maybe an office is the best place to earn cash. No hard feelings for Quorans who are making a living, it's just you are lucky enough.
